Dear Family,
I got the package just a few hours after I sent the last email. There was so much stuff in there, I couldn't believe it at first! The things I enjoyed the most were the photo albums. It's nice to have pictures of everyone.
Work with Elder Reeves is fun. We've found a lot of new investigators this past week, though it hasn't been easy. Elder Reeves is still getting used to the idea of a bike area. Apparently there's only two real 'bike areas' in the mission. We've done a lot of biking around to try and go places where missionaries haven't really gone before, and sometimes those bike seats can seem pretty hard. Poor Elder Reeves.
Sometimes it's hard to write about missionary work and what's going on. To me, everything just seems normal from day-to-day. Teaching lessons, talking to a lot of people... and it's especially the same in Beverly most of the time. A lot of finding. Although this past week, we taught 7 lessons and found 4 new investigators - the best week I've had in Beverly so far. Elder Reeves and I get along really well, we had a lot of the same interests before our missions (and even during our missions I suppose). We have even both worked in grocery stores before our missions, he just worked in a local Wal-Mart. He's from Cedar City, Utah, if you know where that is.
It's starting to get cold again in Beverly. It's been pretty hot for the past couple weeks, and my tan line is getting more and more hilarious. But today it's raining and fairly chilly, just like a typical Oregon drizzle. Looks like Fall is already starting to set in.
Is that Wal-Mart almost built yet? What about the stake center. And how is the iPad, Dad? I hear they are pretty coveted over here. And I'm also hearing a lot about 3D TVs? Has technology really gone this crazy already?
Well I'm looking forward to hearing from everyone next week. Depending on how much it costs, I'm going to send some printed photos home in a letter, seeing as how I'm not going to be able to email pictures for at least another 6 weeks. Hopefully they shouldn't take too terribly long to get there.
On a side note, I also found out a funny rule the Royal Mail post system has - they are required to send anything that has the correct amount of postage on it. For example, the person who told me this sent a banana to himself in the mail. No packaging or anything. So Elder Reeves and I have decided to send Elder Caine a banana in the post today. I'll let you know if the poor banana makes it.
Love,
Elder Alsop
